Attribute #3 The Wisdom of the Seasons

Jul 30, 2025

In 1965, The Byrds released their famous song Turn! Turn! Turn! As the chorus suggests, there is a season and time to every purpose under heaven.

To everything turn, turn, turn

There is a season turn, turn, turn

And a time to every purpose under Heaven

One of the things I like about  living where I do is I get to enjoy each of the four seasons. We all know there is a purpose to each season, however, Enlightening Leaders don’t just understand the seasons, they live and lead from the wisdom of the sacred teachings of each season.

While the sacred teachings of the seasons vary across cultures and belief systems, they often share common themes centered around the cycles of nature, spiritual growth, and the interconnectedness of all living beings. Here are some overarching principles associated with the sacred teachings of the seasons:

Cyclical Nature of Life: The seasons teach us about the cyclical nature of life, death, and rebirth. Just as the natural world experiences cycles of growth, decay, and renewal, so too do our lives and spiritual journeys.

Harmony and Balance: Each season represents a different aspect of the natural world, and the sacred teachings emphasize the importance of finding harmony and balance within ourselves and with the world around us. This involves honoring the unique qualities of each season and aligning our actions with the rhythms of nature.

Connection to the Divine: The changing of the seasons is often seen as a reflection of divine forces or spiritual energies at work in the world. By attuning ourselves to the cycles of nature, we can deepen our connection to the divine and gain insight into the mysteries of existence.

Spiritual Growth and Transformation: The sacred teachings of the seasons encourage us to view life as a journey of spiritual growth and transformation. Each season offers lessons and opportunities for personal development, whether it be through times of abundance and joy, or periods of challenge and introspection.

Gratitude and Reverence: Central to the sacred teachings of the seasons is the practice of gratitude and reverence for the gifts of the natural world. By expressing gratitude for the abundance of each season and showing respect for the earth and all its inhabitants, we honor the sacredness of life itself.

These teachings remind us of our interconnectedness with the natural world and invite us to live in harmony with the cycles of creation, fostering a deeper sense of spiritual awareness and connection to the divine.

Enlightening Leaders recognize that each of these teachings have relevance in their professional lives. They use these teachings to empower their thinking, decision making and acting on what’s in the highest and best interests for all involved.
